No Me Gusta

As I do every morning, I just went to the home page of The New York Times to see what’s new in the world. Holy crap. My high from the inauguration lasted 48 hours, and just ended with the sound of a balloon releasing air and flying across the room, before landing limply and empty on the floor:

    Dear Joy,
Look at it this way. You can’t really appreciate the highs unless you have experienced the lows. Keep the faith, amiga. Better days are coming…maybe not as soon as we like, but better late than never!

These are scary times, no doubt. Cristian’s teaching contract ends in MAY. That’s just going to be the best time ever to go looking for work.

Probably no solace but the times I have grown the most have been the times when I have been the most challenged. And some of the times that were the most fun were also the times with the least money.

My feeling is that Obama knows that it will take sacrifice to move the US out of this mess and into a country of reason. Most of the country, and many of us outside the country are already feeling the challenge. We just have to stop thinking about how things were and what we had and start figuring out how to shape the future.

It is hard not to worry, though.
