Admiring the Mountain Laurel (While It Lasts)

I’m anxious to get back up to the cabin this weekend — it’s been two weeks! — to see how the rhodedendron are coming along. A few weeks ago, the mountain laurel bloomed all over the hills near our home and I was glad I snapped a few photos as these blossoms only last a few weeks.

From afar, they look soft and fluffy.

Up close, they have a lovely decagonal (?) symmetrical pattern.
