Thank goodness: ‘Largest environmental fine in US history’ to be paid by BP

Such a relief to learn that the high fine — $18.7 billion — fairly matches the scale of the devastation, even if it took 5 years for BP to cough up the money, and even if the fine won’t bring back all the lives lost, nor reverse the genetic damage done to all levels of the marine food web impacted by the spill and the reckless use of toxic dispersants.
